Our History
Built in 1959, Gililland Elementary was originally known as Blue Mound Elementary. It was renamed to honor the campus’s first principal, Lonnie A. Gililland. With decades of service to the Blue Mound community, Gililland is one of EMS ISD’s original five elementary campuses. The school has seen many updates over time, including expansion projects such as the Perkins Wing, gym, and cafeteria additions. Today, Gililland serves approximately 500 students and remains a pillar of academic and community pride.
