L.A. Gililland was a dedicated educator and respected school leader who served as the principal of the campus when it was originally known as Blue Mound Elementary. He led the school with commitment and care, serving on a year-to-year basis and establishing a strong foundation for the community it served.

In recognition of his meaningful contributions to education and the local community, the school was renamed in his honor in 1970. Mr. Gililland also served as principal of Eagle Mountain Elementary, where he continued to make a lasting impact.
